This month marks the 15th anniversary of Roy Willis taking the reins at the Propane Education & Research Council. Since 1998, Roy has led at PERC the implementation of a multidisciplinary program of research and development, education, safety, and training for the propane industry.
At an informal staff celebration, Roy discussed his work as PERC’s president and CEO. It gave us a chance to reminisce a bit, take stock of where we are now, and think about where the propane industry is headed.
Roy gave credit for PERC’s success to the volunteers and professional staff who do the daily work to forge the business relationships necessary to bring new propane appliances, equipment and vehicles to market.
Think for a minute about some of the relationships now in place.
Meanwhile, PERC’s investments with Roush CleanTech, CleanFuel USA and others have forged connections with Ford and GM, and propane autogas vehicles are being used by Dish Network, Menards, DHL Express, ThyssenKrupp, and many, many other firms, governments and municipalities. And oh yeah, the Freightliner S2G bobtail is on its way this year.
That’s a pretty impressive list of partners and a sign of a strong future. And all the more impressive considering Roy started it from his home office with a phone and a fax machine.
So thanks, Roy, for leading PERC and the propane industry for 15 tumultuous, tough and terrific years. Looking forward to many more.
